An adventure of epic proportions

Push To Start Wiring

Wired up the push to start button. The VP-200 controls the external start switch and only enables it in Start Mode. The lighted ring is connected to a power pin on the VP-200 which is also only configured to come on in Start Mode. Pretty sweet. You can find out more about the switch and [...]

Flap Wiring

Wired up the flap position sensor, flap motor and flap switch today. Did an initial calibration on the VP-200 and EFIS/EM to make sure everything was working. Will have to go back and do a “real” configuration once the flaps are on.

Nav Splitters

Single cat whisker NAV antenna in tail goes into Garmin splitter. From there, one goes out to Comant CI-507 diplexer to split NAV and Glideslope signal for 430W inputs. Other goes out to SL-30 NAV input.

Power Applied

Testing most of the interconnects between the avionics. So far the two 4500s are talking to each other, the 430W, SL-30 and VP-200. Had to RMA the GTX-330 transponder back to Garmin for a suspected internal short. Nice to get to this step. Still quite a few bits to hook up yet, but making progress. [...]

Pitch Servo / AutoTrim

It’s been a slow summer in the plane fab area. Lots of family adventures. Got back at it this weekend though. I was trying to figure out where to mount the TruTrak autotrim module. Wanted it by the pitch servo, but couldn’t find a good way to mount it. What I settled on works, but [...]

Wiring Stick Grips

I decided to use the Ray Allen G307 stick grips. I can’t stand the military style grip of the Infinity most are using and I didn’t need all the available switches on it. Some say the downside of the Ray Allen grips is that you have to do the soldering inside yourself. No big deal. [...]

More Panel Cutouts

Finished some more cutouts that needed to be done on the panel. Air vents, start button and VP-200 switch panel. The start button has a green light around the center button that will turn on when the VP-200 is in Start Mode and the starter is enabled. Got the idea from HERE.

Lower Center Console Trays

Got the trays for the SL-30 and GTX-330 mounted in the lower center console. Pretty tight in there. I think I will brace the lower rear of the trays off the tunnel cover which runs underneath.

Mounting Avionics “Stuff”

Spent a lot of time trying to figure out where I want everything mounted behind the panel. One of my main goals was to keep everything I could in the first subpanel. Just easier to get to from underneath when everything is buttoned up. First I created a mounting plate for the Airinc-429 adapter. Close [...]

Intercom and Garmin 430 Trays

Brad came over and helped me with getting the avionics trays all mounted for the intercom and Garmin 430. Took a bit of figuring out where everything could be attached, but it worked out pretty well.
