Cowl Rework

I wasn’t happy with the first attempt at the cowl fit. It did not line up with the spinner the way I wanted. So, I took off all the hinges. Yes, I drilled out all the hinges and filled in the holes. I then redid the aft edges as explained here. Then refit. It added a few weeks time, but I am much happier with the fit now.

I left about 1/16 inch gap around the aft of the cowl to allow for paint.

Cowl Finish

After the cowl rework, I have the spinner gap about right. The bottom is slightly narrower than the top, but I’m calling it good. It’s about ¼ inch instead of the 1/8 called out in the plans. 1/8 inch is just too small and makes it hard to remove the cowl.
